Our Mission & Vision

We empower young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds to access and thrive in technology and cyber security careers through practical education, mentorship, and clear entry pathways.

Mission Statement

Turning curiosity into capability

The Taliesin Foundation exists to close the awareness and access gap in technology careers. We deliver career insight, route planning, and practical, hands-on learning that helps young people move from "I didn't know this was for me" to "I know exactly what my next step is."

Everything we publish is free, beginner-friendly, and grounded in how the industry actually works — written by practitioners, not marketers.

How we deliver impact

Awareness

Showcase role types, employer expectations, and real day-to-day responsibilities across technology and cyber security.

Education

Provide curated learning paths, zero-to-hero practical guides, and certification planning aligned with UK industry demand.

Empowerment

Support informed decisions, build confidence, and provide mentorship and community to sustain momentum.

Why we exist

A widening skills gap

The UK faces a persistent shortage of skilled technology and cyber security professionals. Meanwhile, many capable young people never get a clear route in. Connecting unmet demand with untapped talent benefits learners, employers, and the wider economy.

Access is uneven

Knowing which certifications matter, how apprenticeships work, or how to build a practice lab is often "inside knowledge." Where you start should not determine whether you ever find out. We make that knowledge open.

Public benefit through education and advancement

  • Advance the education of young people and underrepresented communities in technology and cyber security.
  • Relieve barriers to progression by improving access to information, skills development, and mentorship.
  • Promote social mobility by supporting pathways into employment, apprenticeships, and further learning.
